Manufacturers Make Performance Leap with Polyplan v3

Solution Reduces Engineering Change Requests by up to 75%

MONTREAL, Canada, CLEVELAND, Ohio and MUNICH, Germany, June 3, 2004 - Polyplan Technologies, the thought leader in collaborative Manufacturing Process Management™ (cMPM™), today announced a major new release of its Polyplan cMPM™ solution. The new Polyplan v3 significantly streamlines the design to manufacturing process, reducing Engineering Change Requests by up to 75%, New Product Introduction costs by 30% and the cost of engineering changes by factors up to 1000.

"Manufacturers will gain a tremendous leap in performance with the v3 release through the extension of configuration management from parts and assemblies to process plans' effectivities and options," declared Robert Beauchemin, President and CEO of Polyplan Technologies. "By managing product configurations right down to manufacturing and assembly processes, manufacturers will increase traceability, especially aerospace and defense users, and ensure that products produced and delivered comply with what was ordered and designed."

Polyplan v3 provides leading manufacturers of complex engineered-to-order products with a 3D-centric manufacturing process design workbench that seamlessly bridges the gap between manufacturing and engineering systems. The solution fosters concurrent engineering and real-time collaboration between manufacturing process design and product design, systematically driving the manufacturability of product designs, assessing and controlling the impact of changes down to the shop floor, and reducing production ramp-up time and costs.

Polyplan v3 positions Polyplan to capitalize on the expected growth in the market for Manufacturing Process Management software. According to Marc Halpern, PLM analyst at Gartner, "Large manufacturers are expressing growing interest in MPM. We expect this interest to translate into accelerated investment over the next several years."

This breakthrough v3 release delivers numerous system enhancements. Highlights include:

  • New tools for designing and assessing manufacturing strategies;
  • The extension of configuration management from parts and assemblies to the effectivities and options of process plans;
  • New static line balancing capabilities;
  • New process plan costing and time planning tools.
